All of us on the Girls Crochet Headbands team are big supporters of family fun and making wonderful memories. And America’s favorite place to do this is Disney parks! Of course, the cost – as well as the fun – of the family vacation of a lifetime can be epic, but not to worry! We turned to the blogosphere to find some savvy Disney-loving moms who know how to save big bucks on a Disney vacation. Here are some top tips to do just that!
Schedule your vacation to coincide with Disney’s “Free Dining Dates.” Emily Berry, blogger at Mommin’ It Up, says her family of four saved over $900 by booking their vacation during free dining time at Disney. (Check out her post for some great restaurant recommendations). Disney releases these dates each quarter, so bookmark this link and check it often. When the dates are posted, book your vacation ASAP!
Bring your own non-perishable snacks into the park. Believe it or not, you ARE allowed to bring food into Disney parks! Andrea from Savings Lifestyle gives us this tip (and so many more) in this great post on Disney savings. If you don’t want to pack your own food for your trip, she suggests ordering from Garden Grocer and having non-perishables delivered to your hotel. It’s still much less expensive than buying your lunches and snacks in the park, and is great for breakfast items to keep on-hand in the hotel room. Just make sure your room has a fridge!
Watch for specials and get familiar with Disney message boards. Disney does offer specials in addition to dining, and you’ll often hear about them on one of the many Disney fanatic message boards. Some to bookmark and get familiar with are MouseSavers, DIS Boards, and AllEars. A little bit of time spent on these boards is a great way to learn from people who’ve done Disney countless times—and you’ll likely reap the benefit of extra savings during your own family trip!
Sign up for Disney’s email newsletter. Go to Disney Vacations’ website and create an account, then sign up for their email newsletter. Watch your email for a PIN – a code good for only you (these can also come via snail mail, so make sure to complete your profile). The Disney mom blogger experts tell us these offers are random and no one knows why some get them and some don’t – but maybe your magical wish will come true and a discount code will be delivered to you! These codes vary in value but can be up to 30% off.
Happy saving and vacationing in the happiest place on earth! If you go to Disney this year, make sure to take some of our Girls Crochet Headbands products with you and share your magical vacation photos on our Facebook page!
