Well now that we’re well past the holiday season, those credit card bills are coming in and causing budgets all across America to tighten up a bit. Although red is the color of the season, I’ll assume that you’re like me and prefer your bank account to stay in the black. To keep from overspending in preparation for Valentine’s Day, here are three of my favorite tips for dressing my girls up for this special day without breaking the bank:
Choose outfits that do double-duty.
I’m so excited to share with you our selection of little girl and baby clothes for Valentine’s Day! From rompers to chiffon outfits and bloomers to leggings, we have what you need to dress your darling in red, white and pink–or any combo thereof–from head to toe this February 14. What I love more than the hearts, lace and ruffles is that these pieces can be worn all year long; none of them scream “Valentine’s Day” and will make you cringe when your little lady insists on wearing it two months later!
Create the outfit around one central piece.
If you already have a shirt, dress or skirt that is best worn once a year, use the piece as the focal point of the outfit and use solid or lightly patterned pieces to finish the outfit. This year, my daughter will be wearing an adorable shirt which says “Mommy’s Favorite Valentine.” It’s pink with red, white and purple hearts, so the options for completing the outfit seem endless. At the moment, I’m planning to pair the shirt with black leggings, a pink tutu skirt and a pink headband with a pink flower.
Go the DIY route for photos.
Armed with some great photography tips, even the most inexperienced photographer can capture some amazing pictures with an ordinary camera or even their iPhone. I’ve actually found that my phone works really well for taking snapshots of my kids, and–even better–it’s oh-so-simple to upload and share them with family and friends on Facebook and Instagram.
If you’re dressing your girls, nieces or granddaughters in something from Girls Crochet Headbands, be sure to snap a picture of it and enter our monthly photo contest for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate!
